A Traditional Pig Killing in Temerin

The members of the Circle organized a traditional pig killing in the house of Hungarian tradition, and thus presented the many tricks of pig killings in the olden days, and at the same time they secured the necessary meat for the St Vincent’s Day’s wine contest at a favourable price.

This time, for the happiness of us all, it was not a „quick one-act”, which is becoming more and more popular these days, and which does not count on the help of the relatives and neighbours. Our sole aim was to create an authentic environment in which the citizens of Temerin could socialize while nibbling and drinking, and judging from the atmosphere, we were successful – we could even say that the Circle managed to stop the rushing time for two days in Temerin.

Despite the ankle-deep mud that followed the Friday rain the children enjoyed the magic of the olden pig killing, and the older people thought back with nostalgia to the olden days, when a pig killing still used to be a real family holiday. While doing this, they were also nibbling at the sausages and chitterlings-sausages that had been roasted in an outdoor oven by the women of the Gizella the Blessed needlework group.
