The Temerin Garden Lovers’ Circle

The biggest achievement of the Circle is possibly that it succeeded in improving the gardening and agricultural technical knowledge of the citizens of Temerin, which was not cultivated in the previous regime. During the lecture sessions lasting from autumn to spring, the many professors and professionals from a territory bordered by Budapest and Belgrade gave hundreds of lectures on viticulture, vegetable growing, formal gardening, and farming. We could also mention such topics as environmental issues, or the seemingly more abstract flower arrangement or bee-keeping, that were all represented at the lectures. These interactive summaries had only one aim: to give practical advice and help to the less skilled garden lovers, in such a way, as it would be useful for those, who hold a university degree as well. We expected from them that they could use these practical guides even the following day in their gardens in having more, more beautiful, and less unhealthy produce. We all feel that, considering this, it was worth organizing, that we were successful, because on Thursday evenings these events took place almost always in a full house. This was useful to our families and nation as well, and we believe that in this way we are a worthy continuation of the Farmers’ Club, that was put a stop onto by the regime coming after 1944, not only here in Temerin. We will dauntlessly follow our pathway along educating our citizens. For the welfare of us all. We promise!
