Our Activities in 2004

 January 8      As a part of the winter lectures, Attila Juhász, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Kecskemét, informed us about the new hybrid species, after which Stojan Gavrilović agricultural engineer talked about greenhouses.

 January 15    Mirko Veselin and Brankica Tišma, representatives of the Belgrade-based Galenika company, gave a lecture on the importance of spraying in the winter.

 January 22    Janko Červenski PhD, Mirjana Vasić Phd, and Dušan Gušač, professors at the Novi Sad Market Garden, gave a lecture, respectively, on the technical aspects of cabbage-cultivation, on new hybrid species, and on the weed control of particular cultures.

 January 24    Vincent’s Day Wine Contest and Wine Sampling

 January 28    We cut off the diseased branches from the trees in the protected park.

 January 29    The Finnish KEMIRA company presented various types of fertilizers.

 February 5    Đorđe Paprić PhD, head of the Department of Viticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave a lecture on vine-stock planting.

 February 12  Lectures:

            Radivoj Jakovljević, representative of BASF chemical company, talked about the permitted pesticides.

        Rade Sekulić PhD, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, laid out the basic points of an economical plant protection

          Radivoje Đurić PhD, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave useful advice on the correct use of sprayers.

 February 19  The specialists of the Novi Sad institute of corn breeding presented the new corn hybrids.

 February 20  We made birdhouses with the help of the schoolchildren and placed them in the trees in the park.

 February 26  The American Pioneer presented its corn hybrids.

 February 28  Our viticulturists participated in the wine contest in Jánoshalma, Hungary.

 March 4          Petar Cindrić Phd, director of the Institute of Viticulture in Sremski Karlovci, presented the new species of vine.

 March 8          We gave a flower-gift to all female members of our circle on the occasion of the international Women’s Day.

 March 11        As a part of our lecture session, Borbála Balzah presented the corn hybrids of the French Genetic institute of corn breeding, after which the Israeli Makteshim Magan chemical company presented its products.

 March 25        We celebrated Lady Day, our adopted feast day.

 April 1 A lecture and product-presentation of the Israeli Dan Sprinkleers company.

 April 17          Tidying up the park.

 April 22          An organized collecting of the rubbish on the occasion of Earth Day.

 June 21          Our viticulturists went to Orlovat and Feketič.

 July 20           A produce show in the elementary school in the quarter of Telep, and the ensuing merry-making under tents for more than a thousand guests in the schoolyard on the occasion of the Prophet Elijahs Feast Day.

 September 20           We made wine for our own and the church’s purposes.

 September 25           Some of our members visited the fair in Horgoš, our viticulturists went to Moravica.

 October 7      THE TEMERIN PUMPKIN CONTEST AND SAMPLING OF DISHES MADE OF PUMPKINS

 October 10    We participated at the national pumpkin contest in Kikinda, not without any success.

 October 26-30          We presented our products at the fair, which was organized in the Novi Sad SPENS Sports Centre.

 November 1  On All Saints’ Day we laid a wreath on the mass grave of the Hungarian victims of the 1944 ethnic cleansing.

 November 3  Sampling the young wine on Martin’s Day in the gardener’s lodge.

 November 11            “How to make good wine?” – a seminar for our viticulturists.

 December 2  Đorđe Paprić Phd, head of Department of Viticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave a lecture on the protection of the grapevine; Vitomir Bogdanović engineer, director of the fruit-tree nursery at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, talked about the various aspects of planting fruit trees; Dragan Vajgand, representative of the French DUPONT company advised the audience concerning plant protection.

 December 4  We organized a traditional pig-killing followed by merry-making in the Temerin House of Hungarian Tradition.

 December 9  Ferenc Balázs PhD phytopathologist, director of the Institute of Plant Protection at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, analysed the plant-protection problems of the year, while Sándor Balázs, executive of the Voivodinian subsidiary of the Kecskemét-based ZKI Market Gardening Research Institute, presented the latest types of seeds developed by the Institute.

  December 27 On John’s Day the young wine was sanctified in the church.

 February 8    Our viticulturists participated at the wine contest in Tiszahegyes, then they visited Bácskossuthfalva, Szekszárd, and Jánoshalma.

 February 6    István Varga agricultural engineer gave a lecture on autumn cereals and their winter protection. At the same time the specialist of GALENIKA talked about spraying.

 Febuary 20    Radivoj Sekulić PhD, representative of BASF chemical works, gave a lecture on pesticides and pests; after this, Radivoj Đukić talked about the correct use of sprayers.

 February 25  We went to Feketič to listen to Petar Cindrić PhD, who gave an interesting lecture on modern viticulture and pruning the vinegrape.

 February 27  Đuro Gvozdenović PhD, director of the Novi Sad Market Gardening Institute, presented the latest hybrids, after which SCOTTS informed us about synthetic fertilizers and compost.  

March 6          We gave a flower-gift to all female members of our circle on the occasion of the international Women’s Day.

 March 13        Zoltán Kókai gave a lecture on early spring pruning of fruit trees.

 March 25        We celebrated Lady Day, our adopted feast day.

April 2 We distributed pumpkin seeds for sowing among the members.

 April 5 We organized a day of collecting the rubbish in the park with the help of the schoolchildren.

 May 8           István Lócz gave a lecture under the title “About the Role of the Bees In Our Orchards”.

 May 24           We visited Szentes and Ópusztaszer (Hungary) as a bonus trip with a group of 50 people.

 June 19          Zoltán Kókai gave us useful advice about protection against webworms.

 July 20           A produce show in the elementary school in the quarter of Telep, and the ensuing merry-making under tents for more than a thousand guests in the schoolyard on the occasion of the Prophet Elijahs Feast Day.

 July 24           BIO chemical company held a presentation about their environment-friendly chemicals.

 July 31           The Bečej-based SYGMAPROMET gave a lecture under the title “About the Use of Protecting Nets in Agriculture”.

 August 3        Our viticulturists took part at the meeting of Voivodinian viticulturists in Bajša.

 August 20      We visited Esztergom (Hungary) for the first time, in order to come into contact with the Esztergom Garden Lovers’ Circle.    

 August 28      We made wine for our own and the church’s purposes.

 September 6 We tidied up the upper part of the park.

 September 27           We took part at the Horgoš Grape Harvest Festival.

 December 6  Under the guidance of a specialist, we selectively cut some of the trees in the protected park.

 January 6      Our viticulturists visited the wine sampling festival in Orlovat.

 January 10    Lecture. Current things to be done in the wine cellar and preparing the wines for the contest.

 January 31    Ferenc Szekeres agricultural engineer gave a lecture on current things to be done in the fields.

 February 7    Presenting the environmental programme.

 February 14  Radivoj Jakovljević plant protection engineer, Representative of the Jugoslav BASF company, presented the current things to be done in in the fields of fruit growing and viticulture.

Rade Sekulić PhD, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave a lecture on protection against corn pests.

Nikola Ankić PhD, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave professional advice on tuning up sprayers.

February 23  We visited our sister town, Jánoshalma, where we participated at the wine contest.

 February 26  The viticulturists of the Circle took part at the wine contest in Iđoš.

 February 28  The Šabac-based ZORKA chemical company presented its complete plant protection programme. Dragica Simić, representative of the Novi Sad Corn Breeding Institute, gave a lecture on the latest results in corn breeding.

March 21        We listened to reports about the wine contests in Jánoshalma and Mali Iđoš.

 March 25      We celebrated Lady Day, our adopted feast day at a mass in church and an ensuing lunch for all members.

 April 4 Thanks to the town’s local authorities, especially András Guszton and Petar Novak, the Circle could take possession of the gardeners lodge in the park.

 April 6 We worked out the plan of refurbishing the gardener’s lodge, after which we carried out a series of working sessions.

 April 25          János Nemes bee keeper/teacher gave a lecture under the title “The Role of Bees in Fruit Growing”.

 May 19           A study tour to Szentes.

 June 14          The Circle was welcomed by the Feketič Agriculturists’ Association.

 June 14          Our viticulturists participated at the 3rd meeting of viticulturists in Orlovat.

 June 27          László Horváth participated at an international wine contest in Slovakia as a wine judge.

 July 18           The first publication of the Circle came out under the title “The Garden Lovers’ Circle is five years old”.

 July 20           A produce show in the elementary school in the quarter of Telep, and the ensuing merry-making under tents for more than a thousand guests in the schoolyard on the occasion of the Prophet Elijahs Feast Day.

September 19           Tibor Könyves Phd dairy technologist gave a lecture on making cottage cheese, clotted cream, yoghurt, and kephir.

 September 28           The delegation of the Circle visited the grape harvest festival in Horgoš.

 October 4      Zoltán Kókai gave a lecture on the advantages of planting fruit trees in autumn.

 October 10   THE FOURTH TEMERIN PUMPKIN CONTEST AND SAMPLING OF DISHES MADE OF PUMPKINS

 October 12    Márton Jánosi won first prize with his 227-kg pumpkin at the national pumpkin contest in Kikinda, while József Varga won third prize with his 206-cm gourd.

 October 31    Árpád Török blackberry grower from Ada gave a lecture on making blackberry wine and juice.

 November 1  On All Saints’ Day we laid a wreath on the mass grave of the Hungarian victims of the 1944 ethnic cleansing.

 November 7  Imre Sárkány ground paprika grower from Martonoš talked about his family venture, growing ground paprika.

 November 14            The Circle welcomed István Bacskulin provincial agricultural assistant-secretary. In the second part of the session László Gallusz, editor of the “Village Programme” on the Novi Sad Radio, gave a lecture on agriculture in Denmark.

 November 21            Dr Petri József  talked about the role of fruit in the human diet.

 December 5  In order to preserve the microclimate of the Temerin park, the Circle had bought 1100 saplings of briar-rose and planted them along the shores of the stream that flows through the park.

As part of the evening lecture sessions, László Törteli formal gardener talked about the autumn planting of ornamental plants and about protection against frost damage.

 December 7  On the occasion of the Circle’s fifth jubilee, we stood treat in a small way to our sponsors and those who had supported us financially or morally. The president handed out letters of thanks to our most devoted supporters.

 December 12            István Varga agricultural engineer gave a lecture on protection of the soya, while Ilona Esztelecki talked about healthy diet.

 December 26            On John’s Day the young wine was sanctified in the church.

 January 11    György and Piroska Faragó gave a lecture on the propagation and treatment of indoor plants and perennial flowers.

 February 1    Sándor Jánosi agricultural engineer gave a lecture on pig-killing and meat processing.

 February 8    Dr Csaba Dujmovics veterinary surgeon gave a lecture on the modern tendencies of keeping domestic fowls.

 February 10  We took part at the fair of small-scale producers in Senta.

 February 13  A visit at the wine contest in Moravica.

 February 15  Radivoj Jakovljević, Yugoslav representative of the BASF company, gave a lecture on plant protection.

 February 20  The delegation of the Circle signed an agreement of collaboration with the Horgoš Producers’ Club.

 February 24  We visited our sister town, Jánoshalma (Hungary), to take part at the wine contest.

 February 26  The viticulturists of the Circle gave advice to their colleagues from Iđoš near Kikinda about organizing a wine contest, since they were to do this for the first time.

 March 1          As a part of the winter lecture series, Dragica Simić agricultural engineer gave a lecture on the damage caused by the corn pest. In the second part of the session Milivoj Pavlović and Biljana Micković engineers talked about plant protection and chemical treatment.

 March 8          Eduárd Katzenberger, representative of the well-known Dutch company Rijk Zwaan, talked about growing seedlings.

 March 15        A delegation of six visited the wine contest in Mali Iđoš. The challenge cup was awarded to László Horváth amateur viticulturist from Temerin.

 March 20        The representative of the Bečej Soya Works talked about growing soya and the role of soya in healthy nutrition.

 March 22        A specialist from Hungary presented the scissors and other tools used for working with scions.

 March 25      We celebrated Lady Day, our adopted feast day at a mass in church and an ensuing lunch for all members.

 March 28        A lecture on the conditions of growing soya.

 April 5 Imre Molnár PhD, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, talked about the aspects of soil preparation, while Ferenc Bagi MSc assistant professor at the Department of Plant Protection talked about the current things to be done in plant protection.

April 12          János Berényi PhD, director of the agricultural research institute in Bački Petrovac, and László Gallusz, editor of the “Village Programme” on the Novi Sad Radio, were guests of the Circle. After discussions about how to grow giant pumpkins, the participants of the growing contest were handed over the pumpkin seeds.

 April 26          A lecture was held on the Humikal Universal environment-friendly compost.

May 17           The topic of this day’s lecture was “Using health-affecting chemicals”.

 May 24           There was an informal discussion about the current things to be done in the garden.

 June                We acquired three qualified wine judges – Dr László Dujmovics, Oszkár Paska and László Horváth passed their exams succesfully in Budapest.

 July 20           A produce show and an ensuing merry-making under tents on the Kókai-farm on the occasion of the Prophet Elijahs Feast Day.

 August 2        Our viticulturists visited Gudurica.

 September 8 A visit to the Harvest Festival in Jánoshalma (Hungary).

 September 9 We took part in organizing the melon contest in Budisava.

 September 28           The Circle bought 1300 kg of grapes altogether in Sremski Karlovci and Negotin.

 September 30           The delegation of the Circle visited the harvest festival in Horgoš.

 October 4     THE THIRD TEMERIN PUMPKIN CONTEST AND SAMPLING OF DISHES MADE OF PUMPKINS. We served mutton goulash under the tent erected in the yard of the cooperative. The members of the “Gizella the Blessed” Needlework Group also seized the opportunity and organized a show of their works in the rooms of the cooperative.

 October 29    The delegation of the Circle was invited by the Győr Wine Loving Ladies to their home town.

 November 1  On All Saints’ Day we laid a wreath on the mass grave of the Hungarian victims of the 1944 ethnic cleansing.

 December 1  The students of the Imre Kókai Elementary School made the harvest ball more colourful with their topic-related drawings. We awarded the three most beautiful drawings with 300 dinars’ worth tickets of purchase. 

December 5  The delegation of the Circle made a visit to Father László Szungyi convalescing in the Novi Sad Hospital.

December 13            General assembly. It was decided that the “Gizella the Blessed” Needlework Group would work as part of the Circle.

 January 21, 22         VINCENT’S DAY WINE CONTEST

 February 3    Attila Horváth producer from Bogaraš gave a lecture on the technical aspects of growing potatoes.

 February 10  Radivoj Jakovljević agricultural engineer, representative of the company BASF in Voivodina, gave a lecture on the correct use of plant protection chemicals.

 February 10  We sponsored the Temerin Scouts with a humble sum.

 February 24  Éva Németh and Andrea Bartha, plant protection specialists at the Senta Agricultural Station, gave a lecture under the title “Wash-spraying in Our Orchards at the End of Winter”.

 February 26  The delegation of the Circle took part at the wine contest in our sister town, Jánoshalma (Hungary). At the same time, our viticulturists went to Hajós, where, thanks to the mediation of Dr László Dujmovics, they embarked upon a promising friendship between the local viticulturists and themselves.

 March 14        The viticulturists from Temerin took 12 different wine samples to the 5th Kadarka International Grand Prix wine contest in Mali Iđoš. From among the 314 wine samples having arrived from four different countries, our viticulturists’ wines were awarded one gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. László Morvai was awarded the gold cup for being “the most successful viticulturist in the region of Bačka”. In one of the four six-membered committee of judges László Horváth represented Temerin with great honour.

 March 16        Duško Stefanović, director of Agrostar from Novi Sad and representative of the world-famous Novartis chemical company, gave a lecture on plant protection.

 March 20        Thanks to the Temerin-based Caritas humanitarian organization, the Circle distributed vegetable seeds among its members.

 March 23        Petar Cindrić PhD vine breeder and Vladimir Kovač internationally renowned wine specialist were our guests.

 March 25      We celebrated Lady Day, our adopted feast day at a mass in church.

 April 13          János Berényi PhD, director of the agricultural research institute in Bački Petrovac and international pumpkin specialist talked about growing pumpkins.

 April 27          István Balogh talked about his experiences in the Danube delta.

 May 8           Dr László Dujmovics and Dr Csaba Dujmovics took part at the wine contest in Hajós.

May 11           László Törteli formal gardener talked about decorative plants.

 June 1                      A special general assembly of the Circle: The Circle’s environmental section came into existence. Prior to the assembly Zoran Kresović PhD, professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave a lecture on pruning apricot trees.

 June 8                        József Gergely, a journalist from Senta, was our guest. He talked about protecting birds, and illustrated his lecture with slides. The Circle organized the protection against webworms.

 June 24          We received our guests from Szentes and took them for an outing to Novi Sad and the Fruška Gora hills.

 July 20           The Circle took an active part in organizing the Prophet Elijahs Feast Day celebrations. Having been asked by Father László Szungyi, we organized an ox-grilling free of charge for the public, on the occasion of sanctifying the memorial church in the quarter of Telep. The members of the Circle organized a produce show in the morning in the churchyard, and in the evening there was an ensuing merry-making under tents on the Kókai-farm.

 September 8 The members of the Circle took part at the harvest festival in Jánoshalma (Hungary).

 September 14           The delegation of the Circle participated at the jubilee of the István Király Garden Lovers’ Circle in Szentes.

 September 18           The Circle sponsored financially the eye-operation of Csaba Sörös student from Temerin in Russia.

 September 20           Our viticulturists made wine from 1500 kg of grapes for our own needs.

 September 21           A group of our members went to Szentes, to see the produce show of the local gardening high school.

 October 5      THE SECOND TEMERIN PUMPKIN CONTEST. This time, due to the political situation in the country, the sampling of dishes made of pumpkins was cancelled. János Berényi PhD, director of the agricultural research institute in Bački Petrovac, was our guest.

 October 14    HARVEST BALL.

 November 1  On All Saints’ Day we laid a wreath on the mass grave of the Hungarian victims of the 1944 ethnic cleansing.

 December 3  The delegation of the Circle was received by Father László Szungyi.

 December 10            The members of the Circle planted a millenium tree in the garden of the memorial church in Telep.

December 13            The Circle sponsored the local Father Christmas with a modest sum.

 December 14            A GENERAL MEETING FOR THE ELECTION OF OFFICIALS.

 December 21            Gusztáv Szécsi, professor of the Senta distance learning department of the Faculty of Gardening in Budapest, was our guest. He talked about the current matters of fruit growing. In the second part of the session, Béla Illés, specialist of the Hungarian Ponton Ltd., presented the Biomit environment-friendly compost.

 December 26            On John’s Day the young wine was sanctified in the church.        

 Our Activities in 1999

 January 14    The Circle received the delegation of the János Barta Gardening High School from Szentes. The lecture of one of their members was made even more colourful by a flower arrangement show.

 January 31    SECOND VINCENT’S DAY WINE CONTEST.

 February        The Circle took part at the second brandy and wine sampling festival in Moravica.

 February 11  Dr Csaba Dujmovics played the Dutch Joop Van Gorkum Bergen op Zoom’s gardening film about green-house plant growing in the Netherlands. László Törteli formal gardener talked about the sensitive plant festival in Montenegro.

 February 14  The Young Environmentalists’ Section of the Circle organized a smoke-free St Valentine Day’s tea party in the Gulyás Csárda restaurant.

 February 18  The specialists of the HOLTECH centre from Novi Sad gave a lecture on the ways of preparing germinated cereals.

 February 27  We took part at the wine contest in Szekszárd (Hungary).

 March 4          Éva Németh and Andrea Bartha, plant protection specialists at the Senta Agricultural Station, gave a lecture on wash-spraying of fruit trees in winter and on the possibilities of protection against pests.

 March 6          Under the guidance of Slobodan Cerović PhD, we attended a lecture with practical aspects about pruning fruit trees.

 March 11        Dr Márton Miavecz veterinary surgeon from Temerin talked about the results of his research on various types of plants.

 March 18        István Ternovácz agricultural engineer talked about the pollination activities of bees.

 March 25      We celebrated Lady Day, our adopted feast day at a mass in church.

 April 29          In spite of the bombing-time curfew and the ban on public meetings, we managed to distribute the pumpkin seeds.

 June 17          Dr József Petri and Tibor Kókai agricultural engineer gave a lecture on the harmful effects of ragweed on our health and our surroundings.

 June 24          After an approximate three-month ban on public meetings due to the bombings, the members of the Circle could attend a lecture on pruning given by local fruit growers.

 July 20           A produce show in the Gulyás Csárda restaurant on the occasion of the Prophet Elijah’s Feast Day.

 August 19      The Circle organized a course of grafting in the Kókai gardening facilities.

 August 20      Remembering our king St. Stephen I.

 August 26      Dr József Petri gave a lecture on the allergic symptoms caused by ragweed. István Varga and Tibor Kókai agricultural engineers talked about the agricultural aspects of weeds.

 September 18           At the harvest festival in Moravica Tibor Kókai won first , and Dr Lajos Gergely second prize at the mutton stew cooking contest.

 September 20           Our viticulturists made wine for our own needs from 1500 kg of grapes from the region of Srem.

 September 24           The delegation of the Circle was on a three-day study tour in Szentes, having been invited there by the János Barta Gardening High School and the local Garden Lovers’ Circle. The delegation of ten saw the exhibition called “Towards Frame-Hungary”, after which they visited a greenhouse and hothouse in the nearby, and also took part at a wine sampling in the cellars of the Csongrád vineyards.

 September 27           A group of viticulturists from Temerin visited the Sremski Karlovci experimental station of the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad. It was a great honour for us that Professor Cindrić asked us to help him find names for the new breeds. He also asked us if anyone of us would be willing to plant several hundred vine-stocks of the newly created breeds in our plains region. He wanted to carry out this experiment to see how the new breeds would acclimatize to the plains’ richer soil, how they would bear the frost, how resistant they would be to diseases. 

October 7      PUMPKIN CONTEST. The organizers of the First Temerin Pumpkin Contest could not believe that the interest would be so keen as to be out of food before time. It was estimated that hundreds of people came to see the show of giant pumpkins and other pumpkin-related curiosities, which was made even more colourful by the excellent décor of László and Aranka Törteli. The main organizers were Ferenc Kurcinák and György Péter retired art teacher.

 October 9      Péter Kókai and Erzsébet Csúzdi Povázsán pumpkin growers took part at the 14th National Pumpkin Festival in Kikinda. Kókai was awarded second prize for his 208 cm long pumpkin, it being shorter only 1 cm than the winner, while Ms Csúzdi’s produce weighed itself into getting the third prize.

 November 11            Petar Cindrić PhD, head of the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave a lecture entitled “Integral Viticulture”.

 November 25            István Balogh amateur ornithologist went to the Danube delta as a member of an expedition from Voivodina. He talked about his voyage, and he illustrated the lecture with slides.

 December 9  Annual general meeting.

 December 13            The Circle sponsored the local Father Christmas financially.

 December 17            We sponsored the “Relax” Dance Studio functioning as a part of the Károly Szirmai Hungarian Community Centre. 

December 26            On John’s Day the young wine was sanctified in the church in the presence of the Circle’s members.

 January 15    Béla Nagy gave a lecture under the title “The diseases of wine and their treatment.”

 January 24    VINCENT’S DAY WINE CONTEST.

 January 30    A visit at the fourth meeting of fruit growers and viticulturists in Moravica.

 February 5    The Environmental Section of the Circle was formed.

 February 12  Tibor Ternovác amateur ornithologist gave a slide-projected lecture on the bird species of our surroundings.

 February 13  Dr Lajos Gergely, president of the Circle, wrote a letter to Bogoljub Zec, president of the local authorities in Temerin, asking him to take the necessary steps to solve the environmental issues permanently at their next meeting.

 February 19  A lecture of the specialists from the Market Gardening Institute at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad on the current things to be done in the vegetable garden.

 February 26  Zoltán Kókai nursery-owner talked about the necessary things to know when buying saplings.

 March 5          A lecture by the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad on vegetable gardening. Sándor Vígh, owner of Agrotem specialized shop, gifted those present with cucumber seeds.

 March 12        A friendly visit to Szekszárd (Hungary).

March 19        Professor Tamás Horinka, technical counsellor at the Hódmezővásárhely subsidiary of  the Finnish KEMIRA fertilizer-producing company, gave a lecture on the use of chemical agents in agriculture.

 March 25        On Lady Day Father László Szungyi sanctified the Circle’s flag in the Church of St. Rosalia. The flag was designed by Róbert Csorba, and made by Mrs Szabó.

 April 2 A presentation of László Morvai’s video film collection. Topic: viticulture, fruit growing.

 April 9 A meeting of the environmentalists.

 May 15           The viticulturists of the Circle took a study trip to Biserno ostrvo.

 May 21           Tibor Kókai plant protection engineer and Benjámin Laskai retired chemistry teacher answered questions about plant protection.

 May 28           Remembering Lajos Stuchlik, leader of the long-ago Farmer’s Club in Temerin, Member of Parliament, humanist, an outstanding figure of his age. István Zelenka, an expert of the age, and István Ádám, collector of the local folklore, were special guests.

 June 4                      The Circle and the needlework group of the local community were guests at the Törteli formal gardening facilities.

 June 18          A lecture on cropping the grapevine given by Béla Nagy.

 June 25          Dr József Petri and Tibor Kókai argricultural engineer gave a lecture on ragweed and ticks. The Circle organized the protection against webworms with environmental-friendly chemicals.

 July 20           A produce show on the occasion of the Prophet Elijah’s Feast Day and an ensuing merry-making in the evening.

 September 25           The Circle bought 600 kg of grapes for its own purposes.

 September 27           The viticulturists of the Circle made the communal wine for the parsonage.

 October 1      “What Should One Know about Planting Grapevine?” – professional advice to those who were interested in the topic.

 October 3      A visit to the Harvest Festival in Moravica.

 October 17    HARVEST BALL. After the speech of Lajos Gergely, the president, László Morvai amateur viticulturist tapped the winebarrel and gave a toast.

 November 12            The members of the Circle took part at a practical pruning course in the orchards of the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, near the Roman Trenches.

 November 19            Dénes Tóth and László Erdélyi enthusiastic Circle members – professional house painters – spontaneously painted the temporary seat of the Circle, the boardroom of the Cooperative. 

December 3  Annual general meeting.

 December 10            István Balogh gave a lecture on the wintertime feeding of birds, after which Tibor Kókai agricultural engineer talked about protecting our fruit trees from wild animals and rodents.

 December 12            The Circle provided financial help to the victims of the flood in the Ukraine.

 December 17            Sámuel Almási, a representative of the American Uniroyal company, gave a lecture on plant protection.

 December 27            On the feast day of St. John we revived the wine sanctification ceremony at the church. The viticulturists took some of their own wine to the altar. The communion wine was also sanctified, and it was the first time that local viticulturists had made it for the parsonage.

 January 30    The meeting of the initiators’ board.

 February 6    György Báló agricultural engineer gave a lecture and presentation on pruning fruit trees.

 February 13  Béla Nagy and László Morvai amateur viticulturists talked about wine-making.

February 20  Sándor Ferenci gardener gave a lecture on the structural make-up of fruit trees and the first things to be done after planting them. After the lecture Sándor Vígh, owner of AGROTEM specialist agricultural shop, gifted the audience with vegetable seeds.

 February 27  A lecture on plant protection. It was given by Tibor Kókai agricultural engineer. Károly Kasza amateur gardener distributed seedlings and cherry-pepper seeds to those interested.

 March 13        Dr József Petri amateur gardener and István Varga agricultural engineer gave a lecture. Sándor Ferenci gifted each member of the Circle with a rose-tree.

 March 27        Eduárd Katzenberger gardening engineer, a Yugoslav representative of the Dutch Rijk Zwaan company, gave a lecture.

 March 28        An outing to the orchards of the Petőfi Agricultural Estate: György Báló agricultural engineer presented a practical pruning method of fruit trees.

 April 3 Zoltán Kókai gardener talked about the ways of propagating fruit trees, and Béla Nagy viticulturist presented the grafting of the grapevine.

 April 10          “The Way of Wine from the Harvest to the Glass” – informal discussion. Béla Nagy and László Morvai presented the products of their cellars. In the second part of the session János Nemes bee-keeper talked about the importance of bees in the orchards.

 April 17          A lecture of Dr Ferenc Dujmovics on healthy nutrition.

 May 15           Lectures. Béla Nagy: Frost Damages In the Vineyard.” – Frost-resistant species. György Báló: Springtime In the Orchard.” Tibor Kókai: „Plant Protection.”

 May 29           Béla Nagy presented how to graft the grapevine.

 June 5                      László Hajdú fruit grower talked about the summertime pruning of dwarf-trees, which was followed by an informal discussion about the summertime watering of fruit trees.

 June 7                      The members of the Circle visited the vineyard of István Ternovác Sr.

 June 14          The members of the Garden Lovers’ Circle from Moravica were our guests. The hosts of the meeting were Róbert Csorba and László Morvai.

 June 19          Preparations for the produce show on the occasion of the Prophet Elijah’s Feast Day Festival.

 July 29           We took a study trip with the Moravica Circle members to the Grapevine Breeding Station in Sremski Karlovci.

 August 21      Remembering our king St. Stephen I, the founder of the Hungarian state.

 September 25           A lecture of Eduárd Katzenberger gardener from Temerin.

 October 18    HARVEST BALL.

 October 23    Béla Nagy presented the properties of the latest grapevine species.

 November 8  László Törteli formal gardener gave a lecture under the title “The Place of Ornamental Plants in the Living Garden, Planting and Taking Care of Them”.

 November 13            There was an informal discussion under the title “The Garden Gate Is Open” about grapevine and fruit types, storing vegetables and an extraordinary way of pickling cabbage.

 December 11            Zoran Kresović PhD, a professor of the Fruit Growing Department at the Faculty of Agriculture in Novi Sad, gave a lecture on modern fruit growing.
