By developing the viticulture, the Circle did not neglect the field farmers either, and not even the kitchen and formal gardeners. It organized numerous lectures with the participaton of prestigious domestic and foreign lecturers. All these lectures took place in a full house. It was one of these lectures that the idea came up that a pumpkin festival and contest should be organized. And we did it. We shortly became first two times at the Serbian national pumpkin festival in Kikinda, but many were curious of the contest traditionally organized on the first Thursday of October in Temerin as well. The diversity of the different breeds of pumpkins and gourds richly coloured in the autumn fog every year. And it made the members of the Circle realize what the seeds of the negligible vegetable are capable of – to strenghten the bonds of friendship throughout a vegetational period. And this is not a small thing in today’s rushing world.
